Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus?
Our Holy Father, Pope Francis has said, “Being a Christian means having a living relationship with the person of Jesus; it means putting on Christ, being conformed to him.”
Not surprisingly in our secular culture the message is often not heard or taken seriously and many Christians do not realize they can have a personal relationship with our Savior.
On October 18th, Dr. Claude Sasso, Vice Chancellor for Catechesis and Evangelization, will teach a Bishop Helmsing Institute course on how to develop a personal relationship with Jesus.
The purpose is to gain a basic understanding of why and how we can develop our personal relationship with Jesus and the Most Holy Trinity in preparation for eternal life and to deepen our love for Jesus Christ by seeing His redemptive sacrifice and love in the Mass and in His Word.
Pope Benedict XVI put it this way, “Christian faith is not only a matter of believing that certain things are true, but above all a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.”
This Bishop Helmsing Institute course begins with the basic kerygma as told through the vehicle of salvation history and moves progressively through an understanding of mental prayer, Lectio divina, the Mass and most especially, the spirituality of St. Therese de Liseux and her “Little Way.
The course will be offered at no charge and will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes parish in Raytown on Tuesdays, beginning October 18th, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
